At Kingsmeadow we are striving to become a digitally inclusive school, allowing our staff and students to access their work wherever they are and in a number of different ways.
Since September we have been using realsmart, coupled with Google Apps for Education, in order to allow our staff and students to do just this.
Students today are digital natives, in that they have grown up with technology and are adept at utilising it both for personal use and for school work. Many teachers are digital tourists, meaning that they use ICT in a variety of ways, but this technology wasn’t available to them in their school years.
For this reason we have employed twenty of our students as Digital Leaders who will use their knowledge and expertise to help drive the school forward, supporting both staff and students.
Digital Leaders are given the responsibility to help staff and students to utilise the great technology we have here at Kingsmeadow and in doing so develop their own knowledge of realsmart and Google Apps for Education. Training sessions are arranged with realsmart who provide a Google Certified Trainer to come into school and work with our Digital Leaders, helping to prepare them for their role in school.
